Well organised, conducted, and delivered – it definitely pulled people together, got them engaged, raised the important issues and engendered commitment.  Many thanks and plaudits from me – it never felt like an obligatory meeting – more like a party with a point! I have been constantly impressed at her capacity to lead those she is working with to reach an understanding of the topic in a way that relates to their own circumstances. AND ONE FROM THE ARCHIVES . . .

As is often the case, it was one individual who lit the spark and carried the torch by championing the potential of Hogmanay in Edinburgh.  That individual was Abigail Carney, who recognised the tourism and wider civic PR potential of Edinburgh as home of Hogmanay, and persuaded the leaders of Edinburgh’s District and Regional Councils, and Lothian and Edinburgh Enterprise of this potential.  These agencies combined to commission a feasibility study to establish a world-class Hogmanay celebration to  enhance the city’s image as a European international capital, as a city of arts and celebrations and, as a city of world quality.
Client: Head of Marketing, Edinburgh Tourist Board
Brief: To develop Edinburgh as an international and national destination out with the summer festival season
